Tellico Riders Activities

Club Meetings

Club meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month at the Tellico Village Yacht Club (Map) [check the calendar for exceptions]. Social Hour 5–6 p.m. Meeting 6–7 p.m. Dinner 7 p.m.

Scheduled Rides

“Club Rides” are twice monthly well-planned group rides that are posted and detailed on the club calendar. Click on the event for more details. Impromptu rides, called “Show Up and Ride”, are scheduled March through December several times per month as shown on the club calendar, weather permitting. A reminder email is sent prior to the ride communicating the time and place to show up. Show Up and Ride rides have no planned routes or ride captains. Those who show up pick a ride leader and enjoy the day. Overnight rides are occasionally planned to destinations outside the immediate area. Signup sheets are posted on the website in the “Whats New” section for Club, Dinner, and Overnight ride – be sure to signup if you plan to attend.

Dinner Rides

In addition to the Club Rides, we have one Dinner Ride per month, along with some special holiday rides (e.g., New Year’s Day). Dinner rides are normally held once per month. Check the calendar for gathering date, time, and location, and the dining destination. If you choose not to ride to the dinner, but want to join in the fun, you are encouraged to either meet at the gathering location before the ride and car pool with others to the dining destination, or drive to the dining destination yourself. Spouses and significant others are not only welcome, but encouraged to participate—and many do. Signup sheets are posted on the website in the “Whats New” section for Dinner rides  – be sure to signup if you plan to attend so the Ride Captain and Restaurants can properly prepare.

Tellico Riders is a social organization . . . organized, non riding activities our members participate in include the following:

  • 2009-08-03_raftoff_01Dock Parties – Hosted by a member who lives on the lake; members bring a dish to share, their own beverages, and dinnerware. The club provides the hot dogs, buns, and condiments.
  • Ladies Activities –These include various functions organized by the Activities Committee.
  • Picnics – Spring and Fall find our members at one of our Tellico Village pavilions for Club picnics. Members bring a dish to share, plus their own beverages and dinnerware. The picnics are held on regularly scheduled meeting dates.2012-04-24bourbontour24
  • Water Shed Clean-Up – In March, Tellico Riders members participate
in the annual Water Shed Clean up, coordinated through WaTER and a volunteer club coordinator.
  • Children’s Christmas Charity – Our Club charity benefits needy local children by purchasing and donating Christmas gifts. The gifts are distributed by social service agencies in Loudon county. Funds to purchase the gifts are provided by a membership-approved donation from the Club treasury, coupled with individual donations.
  • Golf Outing – A Fall golf outing has often been included in the non-riding activities.
