Don’t Miss
Big Bend National Park. Out of the way, but not so much if you are in NM or TX. Located on our southern border south of Fort Stockton, TX, near Terlingua, TX. Don’t miss “the Basin” in the park (they have lodging, too) and Santa Elena Canyon. Nice, paved road around the Chisos Mtns in the park. Other sites include: Terlingua Ghost Town, road to Presidio, TX, through the Big Bend State Park (Nat Geo—ranked the road “one of the top 10 in N America”) and check out the old Contrabando Movie set along the way. The scenery and landscape in the parks are spectacular—worth the trip to see.
